TAYERLE

About our company
On a modest budget Loren Tayerle put together a small
functional winery in the O2 Artisans Aggregate, a compound of
artisans and craftsmen in industrial West Oakland (Baja Napa!).
There the focus is on authentic handcrafted small lot wine
production, emphasizing gentle handling techniques to bring
purity, balance and expression of terroir to the varietal.
Loren joined David Bruce in 1994 to work the crush and soon
became a member of the production and winemaking team. At
David Bruce, Loren gained experience with Pinot Noir drawn from
as many as fifty different vineyards and a dozen appellations and
continued on in a similar vein at Rosenblum Cellars gaining
further experience with other varietals. Loren is consulting
winemaker for Aubin Cellar’s Verve and Ranchita Canyon
Vineyards.
Loren brings a sense of aesthetics to winemaking from a career
as a classical musician. Precision, attention to details, unity,
intensity and complexity translate equally from the concert hall to
the vineyard and cellar. Loren received a Bachelors degree in
French Horn performance and a Masters degree in orchestral
and choral conducting from the San Francisco Conservatory of
Music. Loren still maintains a busy performance schedule with
the Carmel Bach Festival, Berkeley Symphony, and San
Francisco Chamber Orchestra and is conductor of the De Anza
Chamber Orchestra. Loren has continued his studies in
Viticulture and Enology at U.C. Davis and Napa Valley College
and through travels to the Old World winegrowing regions of the
world.
